Background: Satisfaction of surgical trainees with their training programs and regimens is crucial for the development of their surgical skills. Thus, it is necessary to evaluate the perception of trainees regarding the educational environment in surgical theaters.
Objectives: To evaluate the perception of the educational environment in surgical theaters by surgical residents of DHQ Gujranwala using the STEEM questionnaire.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 80 surgical residents of DHQ Gujranwala conducted in 2020 using the STEEM questionnaire. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were confirmed by experts. The lowest possible score on the questionnaire is 40 and the highest is 200. A score of at least 120 out of 200 was considered favorable.
Results: Among the 80 participants, 49 were males and 31 were females. The overall STEEM score was 137 out of 200, indicating a favorable perception of the educational environment in surgical theaters by the residents.
Conclusion: The questionnaire was found to be a reliable, easy, and practical tool for assessing the perception of the educational environment in surgical theaters.
